31 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 24, INSPIRED BY A BOOK

Ok so I know I was excited about yesterday's design, but I am super excited about todays!!! It turned out so much better than I hoped it would :) Today's design is 'Inspired by a Book'. Now I picked this one because one of my friends has two little babies, twins actually, and she dressed one of them in a "Go Dog. Go!" onesie. It was my favorite book when I was little so I am glad that she posted a picture, otherwise I would not have thought of it.

Isn't this so cute!! I picked the colors after googling the book, because I couldn't remember what the book looked like, and I got the pictures from google. I got this idea from a Youtube video which you can see here. The girl printed off some pictures and glued them to her nails, so I tried it :) I also tried it yesterday, but it didn't quite work, so I'm so excited that it worked today!

The colors I used for this were Sinful Colors, Exotic GreenTimbleberry and my nameless, white L.A. Colors. I also used my white Striper polish instead of tape...I wasn't feeling patient enough for it ;P

Do you guys like it as much as I do? :)

31 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 23, INSPIRED BY A MOVIE

Hello! To whoever is there :P Sometimes I feel like I'm writing to people who are not there...but I'm sure that will change at some point, I know my blog is still farely new. Anywho, I am so excited about today's design!! At first it was really hard for me to think of a movie. I was racking my brains all morning trying to figure out what movie I wanted to portray. I thought of alot and started on some, but had no luck. So I put my stuff down for a few hours to relax and give my mind some time to think. I think that did the trick :P Here's what I came up with:

Monster's Inc.!! What do you think about this!? I am super excited about how they turned out! The thumb is actually my favorite for some reason :) I just like the way it turned out.

I came up with the idea to do Monster's Inc. when I was googling Disney Movies. I came across this one and thought it was perfect because my boyfriend and I love this show! I'm kind of sad I don't own it...but I think now I will have to buy it.

I took this picture up close so you could see all of the details a little bit better. I know it doesn't really show in this picture but I added the little snake heads to Celia's hair and I think it turned out so cute! I wasn't sure how to do Sully but I figured since he's so big that just a patch of his fur would work ;)

I used ALOT of colors for this design so I will just name them all...Sinful Colors, Snow Me WhiteExotic Green, L.A. Colors (Un-named purple), Orly, Grave Mistake, China Glaze, Liquid LeatherStreet ChicRich and FamousFrostbitePassionGaga For GreenFlyin' High and Concrete Catwalk. I also used my white, black and purple Striper Polishes.

I'm glad I decided to go for this movie instead of my previous ideas. I wanted to do Tangled and print off some nail decals with my printer, but to make the pictures small enough to fit my nails just made the picture look blurred. So, I free-handed this design not only using alot of my colors but also my dotting tools and nail brushes. I did mess up a few times, which is ok. I'm actually glad I did because I would not have ended up with this look if I didn't mess up. At first I was going to do Boo's door instead of Celia, but I couldn't quite get it to look right, so I decided to scratch that idea and do another character...so Celia won :P

Please feel free to comment and tell me if you like these or not :) I would love some feedback!

31 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 22, INSPIRED BY A SONG

Post number 2! Now before I share this design with you I wanted to share that I just updated my cover photo on Facebook and I would love it if you all check it out and tell me what you think! :) Just look up "Playful Polishes" on Facebook.

Now back to the post...this post is Inspired by a Song. I've been thinking about this design for a few days now, trying to think of a song and figure out what I could do to portray the song on my nails...I was also thinking I want to incorporate some of these next designs into Halloween, so this is what I came up with.

I know The Itsy-Bitsy Spider isn't really a song, more like a kid's rhyme...but after I thought of it I couldn't get it out of my head. Plus spiders remind me of Halloween, and even though this isn't a Halloween song, I still wanted to do it. I really like the way it turned out even though it is child-like. It's still cute :) It makes me think of my nephew because my sister taught him the song when he was about 2 or 3 and I could picture him singing it the entire time I was painting my nails :P

For those of you who may not know this song it goes like this, "The itsy-bitsy spider crawled up the water spout, down came the rain and washed the spider out, out came the sun and dried up all the rain, and the itsy-bitsy spider crawled up the spout again". So each nail represents a different part of the song.

The colors I used for this design were China Glaze, Concrete Catwalk, Flyin' HighHappy Go Lucky,  Sinful Colors, Let's Meet, Snow Me White and Orly, Grave Mistake. I Franken-polished a few of the colors for this design, the first was the background color. I mixed together Concrete Catwalk and Snow Me White to make a softer, lighter grey. I also mixed Snow Me White with Flyin' High for the rain, and Happy Go Lucky and Let's Meet to make a shimmery sun.

I hope you like this design, please feel free to share your thoughts :)

31 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 21, INSPIRED BY A COLOR

Guess what everyone!? Today is your lucky day! :) I have 2 manicures to share with you tonight to make up for the other day. The first is day 21, which now we have moved into the "Inspired By" section of the challenge. So today is Inspired by a Color. I chose brown after looking into my polish collection and seeing 2 browns I haven't used much at all.

I did a stamp over China Glaze, Street Chic with Orly, Buried Alive. It's very simple, but I like the Orly, Buried Alive because of the gold flakes in it, they make it eye catching. And the stamp I used was Cheeky plate CH1, which is kind of like a small camo print.

31 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 20, WATER MARBLE

It's day 20! That means Water Marble :S I was so sad to take off my Galaxy Nails, but I am so grateful I am doing this challenge and taking pictures, otherwise it would have meant nothing haha.

So today's water marble was my second attempt (Ever!) and although it did work for me this time, it's still very messy and my "Perfectionist-Self" doesn't like that very much.

I hesitated to even upload these pictures because I think they look bad, But! I'm forcing myself now and I think I will be glad I did later. This will show me later on if I make any progress on my future attempts hahaha. The thing I did realize though was that the design turned out much better if I stuck close to the middle section of polish. If I went more towards the edges it didn't turn out so well...hence my middle and ring fingers.

My pinky turned out extremely well! I love it! :) I'm happy that at least one turned out really well...if it hadn't I probably would have given up. And surprisingly, these were the first colors I chose. My first attempt today wasn't good, so I changed polishes thinking it was the polishes (and not the user :P) and I changed polishes about 8 times hahaha. But I came back to these three. I used Sinful Colors, Exotic Green, Gone Platinum and Let's Meet. The purple one (Gone Platinum) has some shimmer to it, so when I tried to clean up my nails the shimmer was everywhere and I couldn't get it off.

After having these on for most of the day and going to work with them on, I started to like them more (which is good lol). In the photos they look so bad to me, but on my hand they look decent. And now that I know what to do I will definitely try again, because now I know what not to do.

31 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 18 (CRACK)

Hey guys! I apologize for getting this picture up late. I realized that I forgot to upload it last time because I was so excited about my Galaxy Nails :P

You can actually see a few cracks in my nail in this picture. I did have these on for more than one day (:S) lol but after the first day the matte top coat cracked. Even though I don't like that the polish cracks, the matte finish is so much fun that I don't mind, especially for this challenge, because most of the designs are only on my nails for one day.
