APRIL NAIL ART CHALLENGE: DAY 10

Good afternoon!! It's a rainy day here today and although I love rain it seems like the weather doesn't want to make up its mind lately :( I don't like it. A week ago it was 80 degrees and just perfect and the past couple of days have been extremely windy and now rain :( and back down in the 50's... I don't know about you guys but I LOVE warm weather! So this cold can just go away :P

I guess the only thing I like about cold, windy and rainy days is that I can stay in my cozy apartment, put on a good movie and paint my nails :P Today I have more designs to show you from the April Nail Challenge :) I did do these a few days ago so hopefully I can do more today or tomorrow.

The theme for Day 10 is 'Bright', so I immediately looked at my polish collection and pulled out all of the brightest polishes I have. I couldn't figure out what design I should do so that the polishes would pop, but whenever I'm not sure what to do I always think "when in doubt, stamp!" hahah! So I decided to stamp over white and I didn't want to pick just one color to stamp with, so I chose 3 different colors :P

I started with my white base using Sinful Colors, 'Snow Me White' and once I picked which stamp I wanted to use I painted a stripe of Zoya, 'Maura' (which is the beautiful orange color!) then China Glaze, 'Def Defying' (which is the green...the green and yellow kind of blend so its not as noticeable) and 'Happy Go Lucky'. I used my Jumbo Cheeky Plate which I haven't used a whole lot because the images really are "Jumbo" lol. When I first got them I really wasn't sure how to use them because unless my nails are really long, I couldn't get the entire image on my nail. I have to admit I was a little intimidated by my Jumbo plates for awhile lol. But now I'm more comfortable with them and I highly recommend them for anyone with long/bigger nails. I have a set from Bundle Monster that was my first set of stamps and I really like it but the full image stamps don't fit my nails because the images are to small (for my nails), so I really love how big the Cheeky plates are! They are so big that I even have to clean my cuticles every time I use them hahah.

Anywho, I hope you guys like this stamp design! :)

BRAIDED NAILS

Have you guys seen braided nails before?? Or tried them? I remember the first time I tried braided nails I really really didn't like them :P I never thought I would try them again but this is actually Day 7 of the April Challenge.

As you can probably tell I loved the 'Pamplona Purple' so much that I had to use it one last time before I gave it back :P So I started off with that as a base color and then using Sinful Colors, 'Viole Serenade' painted a thick line in a half "V" shape at the top of my nail (I made a tutorial for this design :D ). Then using white acrylic paint I painted the other half of the "V" shape...it's actually not very easy to explain how to do this design without making it sound more complicated than it is, so please take a look at my step by step tutorial.

If you guys do like my tutorial and find it helpful to try out braided nails for yourself, please feel free to share your design on my Facebook page, Facebook.com/playfulpolishes, or tag me on Instagram at @playfulpolishes :)

APRIL NAIL ART CHALLENGE: DAY 4

Onto Day 4! :) This is a simple Swatch and I picked O.P.I. 'Pamplona Purple'. I seriously could wear this color on my nails and nothing else all year long!! :P It is absolutely stunning!! The only problem I have with it is that I actually don't own it! :( (Yet) lol. I borrowed it from a friend, so now I must go find it! :P If you have used this color you probably know what I mean!

APRIL NAIL ART CHALLENGE

Hey everyone! I didn't get any feedback from you guys on whether you like when I do a summary of the Monthly Nail Challenges or individual posts for each day but I decided I like the individual posts :) So to catch up I have 2 or 3 posts to share with you guys!

(Real quick I just wanted to say that I'm trying out Blogger from my phone so if the format looks different that's why :P ).

So Day 1 is 'Flowers'. I decided to do them blue in support of Autism Awareness Month :) I started with a base coat of Essie, 'Borrowed & Blue', and then using a dotting tool and blue acrylic paint I put random spots evenly over each nail. Once the acrylic paint dried (it dries really fast) I took a nail art brush and used Orly, 'Snowcone' and white acrylic paint and painted little brush strokes in a circular motion to create the flower petals. Then with green acrylic paint I added leaves in the empty spots and finished with a top coat of Seche Vite! And just to make it a little bit easier to follow, I made a pictorial with each step :)

PLAYUL POLISHES DESIGNS ON OTHERS

Good afternoon everyone! I have alot of fun designs to share with you guys today! I have done alot of designs on my friends (and my mom :P) and I thought it would be fun to share them!

Ok so this first design is one I did on my mom a few weeks ago :) Now one thing you should know about my mom is she loves every nail to be different, as you can see :P I usually don't like that on myself, but it fits my mom very well :)

Here is another design I did on my mom :) I did this with one of my Bundle Monster stamping plates and then using pink I created a french tip over the top. She absolutely loved this design and could not stop showing it off :P

You guys know how much I love blue nails! Well my friend Brandi is the same way! And when she said she wanted to do blue Chevron nails I was so excited! These were actually the very first Chevron nails I have ever done and I was very pleased with the way they turned out :)

When I did Brandi's nails we had made it a girls night with our friend Cortney and this was the design I did on her. I really liked doing her nails because she knew exactly what she wanted and I love the way it turned out :)

Have you guys ever tried patchwork nails before? I had always wanted to but never got around to it, so when my mom had me do her friend Anna's nails, I was so excited that she wanted patchwork nails!

Cheetah print and polka dot toes! Both cheetah print and polka dots are my moms favorite! It's what she always goes back to if she doesn't have any other ideas.

Here is another design I did on Anna, she loved the patchwork nails so much and was so excited to have me do her nails again for spring!

My mom is my biggest supporter when it comes to my nails! (because she wants me to do them all the time :P) So after I do her nails she always goes to work and shows them off to all of the girls in the office! This design is on one of my moms coworkers who couldn't wait to have hers done and although it is simple she loved it!

For those of you who don't know, this month is Autism Awareness Month. I posted a picture on Facebook about Autism Awareness within the Nail Community and a friend of mine messaged me wanting me to do her nails. She has a 3 year old autistic son and wanted to have her nails done for him which was a total honor for me to do for her :)

These last 2 designs I did on another girls night :) it was so much fun! I haven't done alot of acrylic nails but it was fun to get some practice. This first design was inspired by a design I did on myself (which will be posted in a later post).

And for the last design! :) I love the way this one looks! I have always wanted to try a stamp with nude nails underneath, so my friend Anna (different Anna) decided she wanted to try it...and we both loved it!

I hope you guys liked these designs and once again if you have any recommendations please feel free to comment and let me know!

MARCH NAIL ART CHALLENGE (SUMMARY)

Good Afternoon!! :) I apologize I haven't posted anything recently...changing over to Bloglovin' and updating my blog to Google+ has been very confusing to me and I have to admit I've avoided my blog :( I'm sorry. But I'm back and I have alot to show you!!

This post, as you can tell is, a summary of the March Nail Art Challenge. I wasn't able to do the last 2 days but I did all of the other ones and they are some of my favorite designs so far!

Day 1 - Chevron. This was my first ever Chevron design and it took me a little while to do it lol. I was being so perfectionist with the striping tape :P ...I also took a picture of this design the day after I did it which is why the tips of my nails are already worn off :(

Day 4: Stripes. This is one of my absolute favorite designs!! I free handed this using a small striping brush, and I know its triangles, but I figured it still works as stripes :)

Day 7 - Gradients. As you can tell this design is simple, all you need is a dotting tool and 4-5 shades of a similar color. It's perfect for beginners :) I was inspired to do this design by a friend of mine on Instagram, @kimiko7878, if you have Instagram please go follow her, her work is amazing!!

Day 10 - Color Block. This is another one of my favorites :) Most people did solid blocks of color right next to each other for this theme, which is probably what anyone would think of doing for color block...but I wanted to do something a little differently :) and I love the way it turned out!

Day 13 - Luck. I thought about what to do for this design for days before I figured out what to do. I had to think of what thought pops up in my head when I think of the word 'luck'. I thought of lucky pennies, 4 leaf clovers (which was what I knew I would do for Saint Patrick's Day) and finally I came up with casino's, because you really need luck in there right?? And it also worked out perfectly because I had one of my Facebook followers suggest I do Casino nails :)

Day 17 - St. Patty's Day. Here's my 4 leaf clover :) I don't love this design but that's ok...because it is still cute. I really like how my ring finger turned out :)

Day 19 - Vintage. For my Vintage nails I decided I wanted to use Coral...it has become one of my favorite colors to wear! So I painted the stripes, and the hearts and then used a stamping plate for the roses, then I covered it with China Glaze, Fairy Dust to give it a little more pop!

Day 22 - Swatch. This swatch is China Glaze, Sky High-Top and is my absolute favorite blue polish! Last month I bought about 5 or 6 new blues :P lol and this really is the most stunning of them all!

Day 25 - Sparkles. Now as I mentioned before I wasn't able to do the last 2 designs for the March Nail Art Challenge, so this is the last one I did. I had to shorten my nails because a few of them had broken while I was at work, and it was kind of sad because I wasn't able to fix them, but at the same time it's very refreshing to start over. So once again I chose my coral polish :) and using a red polish I stamped over the top and then added yellow rhinestones. Up until recently I haven't been the biggest fan of rhinestones but I feel that that is slowly changing :) I also added a coat of China Glaze, Fairy Dust to add more sparkles.

I hope you guys enjoyed these designs as much as I did :) and I just wanted to ask a real quick question...do you guys like these 'Summary' posts of all of the designs I do in my monthly challenges or do you like the way I was doing it before? With each day having its own post? Please leave a comment below with your opinion :) I would greatly appreciate it!
